Professional Roles

Profwrite is an organization of professional writers. We produce print, blog, and social media documents to meet the needs of our clients. Small collaborative teams led by a project administrator are our primary content contributors. We have three permanent coordinators, content and social media coordinators, who are responsible for setting style guidelines, ensuring they are followed, and consolidating and delivering completed projects.

Project Manager

The instructor of the course will fill the role of project manager, responsible for providing guidance and training to our team of content contributors. The manager will clarify project goals and deadlines, and guide coordinators, administrators, and writers to confidently produce documents that align with ProfWrite’s best practices, project goals, and our client’s expectations.

Content Coordinator

Content Coordinator

This position will be responsible for managing the publication of content. You will play an integral role in developing guidelines for print content, and ensuring that all printable content follows the guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Experience designing documents for print and the web.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Proactive worker, with ability to multi-task and problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to communicate well in writing with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains print-media style guide with sample print documents.
  • Distributes style guide to project managers for distribution to teams.
  • Coordinates with project managers about print-media content creation.
  • Ensures all print-based content is consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for user experience.
  • Writes blog posts.
  • Writes final report to deliver to client.
Blog Coordinator

Blog Coordinator

This position will be responsible for maintaining the project blog and managing blog content. You will play an integral role in developing guidelines for blog content, and ensuring that all blog pages and posts follow the guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • Experience maintaining a website or blog. Experience with WordPress preferred.
  • Experience designing documents for the web.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Proactive worker, with ability to multi-task and problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to communicate well in writing with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains blog style guide with sample blog posts.
  • Distributes style guide to project managers for distribution to teams.
  • Coordinates with project managers about social media content creation.
  • Ensures all blog content is consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for user experience.
  • Writes blog posts.
  • Writes FAQ guide for posting and administering the blog.
Social Media Coordinator

Social Media Coordinator

This position will be responsible for setting-up, managing, and growing our presence on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media sites. You will play an integral role in developing guidelines (style guide and social media plan) for social media content. You will also suggest and write unique content for our blog and manage the distribution of published content.Required Skills:

  • Experience creating Facebook, Instagram, and other social media posts
  • Execution-oriented mindset to deliver tangible results
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and organizational skills are a must
  • Proactive worker, with ability to multi-task and problem solve effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains social media style guide with sample posts for each social media platform.
  • Distributes style guide to project managers for distribution to teams.
  • Coordinates with project managers about social media content creation.
  • Creates and maintains social media plan for Facebook and Instagram.
  • Ensures all social media content is consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for user experience.
  • Writes blog posts about social media campaigns.

Project Teams

Project Administrator

Project Administrator

This position will be responsible for leading a small team of 4-5 members in a writing project. The position is a temporary position and will last until the duration of the project. It is open to technical writers.

Required Skills:

  • Critical thinking skills – using logic and reasoning to identify all strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches to problems
  • Effective time management skills, able to plan and adhere to project deadlines

  • Must be able to work in a demanding, fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with technical writers to identify and resolve problems.
  • Monitor, track, and report regularly on project milestones and deliverables.
  • Facilitates editing of teams deliverables.
  • Integrate data and inputs from multiple sources to produce factually accurate documents.
  • Write, format, edit, and design documents.
  • Deliver web documents consistent with social media style guide.
  • Deliver print-based documents consistent with print-media style guide.
  • Deliver web-based documents consistent with blog style guide.
Technical Writer

Technical Writer

This position will be responsible for writing content to meet project goals. Technical writers will conduct research, write and design documents for print and web publication.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Flexible, able to multi-task and keep organized.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Close attention to detail.
