Profwrite Inc. is a simulated business services organization that gives students the opportunity to take on workplace roles to develop professional writing projects for a client. Students complete projects for a course in Professional Writing, as if they are professional writers working for Profwrite, a B2B organization that offers research, writing, and design services.

Student writers take on different coordinator, team leadership, and writing roles to take projects from concept to publication within a semester. Students take on workplace roles with titles like content coordinator, project administrator, web designer, information designer, social media coordinator, technical editor, and content writer. They are responsible for all aspects of the project, including the creation of style guides and setting up digital spaces to publish documents. Projects challenge students to perform the six professional writing job functions and result in “real” documents that benefit university and non-profit organizations.
